We are delighted to announce that “Nina,” a film by “Abdolreza Kahani” and produced by Ark Gate Films, has been nominated in the Best American Film category at the prestigious Septimius Awards.

The Septimius Awards is an esteemed international award ceremony held annually in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This event celebrates diversity in the entertainment industry by recognizing and honoring talent across various categories, including Feature Films, Documentaries, Shorts, Animations, Television Series, and Screenplays.

The film “Nina” from Canada has been nominated alongside works by directors such as Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” from the USA and other films from countries like Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico and Brazil .

The 2024 Septimius Awards will be held on August 19-20 at Theater Tuschinski in Amsterdam, known for attracting Emmy, BAFTA, and Oscar winners.

The ceremony spans two days and includes a series of panel discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities. On August 19, the schedule features a red carpet event, a workshop by Stedman Graham, and panel discussions. The main award ceremony on August 20 includes multiple sessions of red carpet events and the award presentations, where nominees and guests from around the world are honored for their contributions to the film industry.

The Septimius Awards uniquely splits its main categories—Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Film—by continent, which promotes greater global representation of talent. “A SHRINE” by Abdolreza Kahani Selected for 77th Edinburgh International Film Festival 2024

The Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF), recognized as one of the world’s longest-running and most prestigious film festivals, has officially announced its 2024 lineup for its 77th edition. The festival will feature the world premiere of “A SHRINE” directed by Abdolreza Kahani. This film, a collaborative production between Canada, Iran, and France, is set to compete for the highly esteemed Sean Connery Prize for Feature Filmmaking Excellence. 

Running from August 15 to 21, the festival will showcase ten world-premiere feature films. Among these are “The Outrun,” directed by Nora Fingscheidt and starring Saoirse Ronan, which will open the festival, and the closing film “Since Yesterday: The Untold Story Of Scotland’s Girl Bands.”

Established in 1947, EIFF is celebrated for highlighting the best in international cinema and serves as a crucial platform for emerging talents and seasoned filmmakers alike. This year, EIFF also presents the Thelma Schoonmaker Prize for Short Filmmaking Excellence, with Schoonmaker herself in attendance. Winners will be chosen through a combination of jury selection and audience votes, ensuring a dynamic and engaging festival experience
